Besides, from 2030 a ban on licensing of conventional trucks in Switzerland is required. Besides of the bans, they demand a "Heavy Vehicle Tax" that should be staggered according to the CO2-emissions from 2020. Currently, the tax is based on particulate matter, weight and kilometers driven. The popular initiative of the association "Alpen-Initiative" with the name "For the Protection of the Alpine Area from Transit Traffic" was adopted in 1994. Since then, around 70% of the goods have been transported by rail across the Swiss Alps; the number of truck rides via the Alps was still at 941,000 in 2018. The law is not yet fully implemented; by 2018, the number should have dropped to 650,000 truck rides. The "Alpen-Protectors" continue to demand a complete shift of goods traffic onto the rail; but now, the transport on the road should be made more climate-friendly. The President of the "Alpine Initiative" also addressed the technical innovations on the road, such as hydrogen- and electric trucks. According to a study by the Berne Research firm KBP, the CO2-emissions of trucks are today about 10% higher than in 1990. In April 2019, the European Parliament decided that the CO2-emissions of new trucks should be lowered by 15% on average by 2025 % and by 2030, it should be reduced by 30%, compared to today. Only CO2-regulations for new cars exist so far in Switzerland. There is a role model for the required licensing ban; in Norway, such a rule is planned for 2030. A driving ban for fossil-powered trucks, however, would be unique; but "European Cities are already adopting Diesel bans," said the President of the "Alpine Initiative". Zudem wird ein Zulassungs-Verbot fuer herkoemmliche Lastwagen in der Schweiz gefordert ab 2030. Neben den zwei Verboten wird ab 2020 eine Schwerverkehrs-Abgabe verlangt, die nach dem CO2-Ausstoss gestaffelt ist. Aktuell richtet sich die Abgabe nach Feinstaub-Werten, Gewicht und gefahrenen Kilometern. Die Volksinitiative des Vereins "Alpen-Initiative" mit dem Namen "Zum Schutze des Alpengebietes vor dem Transitverkehr" wurde 1994 angenommen. Seither wird zwar rund 70% der Gueter mit der Bahn ueber die Schweizer Alpen transportiert; die Zahl der Lastwagen-Fahrten via die Alpen lag 2018 immer noch bei 941'000. Das Gesetz wird damit noch nicht vollstaendig umgesetzt; bis 2018 haette die Zahl auf 650'000 Lastwagen-Fahrten sinken muessen. Die "Alpen-Schuetzer" fordern weiterhin eine vollstaendige Verlagerung des Gueter-Verkehrs auf die Eisenbahn; jetzt soll aber der Transport auf der Strasse Klima-schonender erfolgen. Der Praesident der "Alpen-Initiative" spricht auch technische Innovationen auf der Strasse an, wie etwa Wasserstoff- und E-Lastwagen. Laut einer Studie des Berner Forschungs-Buero KBP liegen die CO2-Emissionen der Lastwagen (LKW) heute zirka 10% ueber dem Stand von 1990. Im April 2019 beschloss das EU- Parlament, dass der CO2-Ausstoss neuer Lastwagen bis 2025 um durchschnittlich 15% und bis 2030 um 30% sinken soll, im Vergleich zu heute. In der Schweiz bestehen bisher nur CO2-Vorschriften fuer neue Autos. Fuer das geforderte Zulassungs-Verbot gibt es ein Vorbild; in Norwegen ist ein solches fuer 2030 geplant. In Switzerland, there were 50,852 farms in 2018, 768 (-1.5%) less than in 2017. The average agricultural area per farm was 20.5 hectares, twice as much as in 1980 (10.3 hectares). The number of farms cultivating more than 30 hectares has increased by 1.6%; the number of small farms decreased by 2.3% due to farm closures and consolidations. 47% of the agricultural area (496,100 hectares) belong to farms with more than 30 hectares; compared to 1980, it was only 14%. The area for organic farming (Bio) is getting bigger; 7,032 organic farms (+ 4.9%) cultivated 161,000 hectares, which represents more than 15% of the total agricultural area. The remaining areas include, among other things, vineyards and fruit plants. The number of milk cows fell to 564,200, over the last ten years, this is a decrease of 10%. Cattle stock for meat production increased by 1.7% to 125,454. In addition, there was less poultry fattening, more organic pig husbandry and the sheep population remained stable with 343,470 animals. Der biologische Anbau steigt in allen Kantonen und in allen Landwirtschafts-Bereichen, insbesondere beim Bio-Gemuese (19% der Anbau- Flaeche) und Bio-Reben (8% des Reblandes). 60% der Flaeche fuer den Anbau von Heil-Pflanzen und Kraeutern wird biologisch bewirtschaftet. Der groesste Teil der landwirtschaftlichen Nutzflaeche waren Naturwiesen und Weideland. Auf dem Ackerland wurde groesstenteils Getreide angebaut, das fuer Lebensmittel und Futtermittel diente. Die Anbau-Flaechen fuer die wichtigsten einheimischen Oelpflanzen, Raps und Sonnenblumen sind im Vergleich zu 2017 gewachsen. Die uebrigen Flaechen bestehen unter anderem aus Rebland und Obst-Anlagen. Die Zahl der Milchkuehe sank auf 564'200, ueber die letzten 10 Jahre ist dies ein Rueckgang von 10%. Der Rindvieh-Bestand fuer die Fleisch-Produktion nahm um 1,7% zu, auf 125'454. Ausserdem gab es weniger Huehner-Mast, mehr Bio-Schweine- Haltung und der Schaf-Bestand blieb stabil mit 343'470 Tieren. Die Landwirtschafts-Betriebe beschaeftigten 152'000 Leute, 0,9% weniger als im Vorjahr. In 74% der Landwirtschafts-Betriebe waren ausschliesslich Familien-Mitglieder beschaeftigt. Die Gruende fuer die Verspaetung liegen bei den Prioritaeten der Schweizerischen Bundesbahnen (SBB), nicht erfuellten Versprechungen des Schweizer Staats, den schlimmen Verkehrs-Entscheiden der Genfer und ihrer wachsenden Vorliebe fuer das Auto und dem Desinteresse der Franzosen. Die Stadt Genf wurde zum Synonym einer "Auto-Stadt", obwohl Genf in den 1920-ziger Jahren nach Paris das dichteste Tram-Netz Europas hatte mit 170 Kilometern, gleich lang wie das Tram-Netz der Stadt Zuerich von heute. Da Genf so lange auf das Auto setzte, bereitet der Privat-Verkehr der Stadt heute Probleme. Mehr als 100'000 franzoesische Pendler dringen taeglich in die Stadt Genf ein. Es gibt viel Laerm und die Luft ist schlecht, die Strassen sind verstopft und die Lebensqualitaet leidet. Wie stark die neuen Eisenbahn-Verbindungen den Strassen-Verkehr entlasten ist noch offen; in Frankreich gibt es an den Bahnhoefen wenig Anschluss-Busse. Frankreich tut sich schwer mit dem oeffentlichen Verkehr (OeV). Mit dem "Leman Express" startet die groesste, grenz-ueberschreitende S-Bahn Europas; Genf bekommt eine "echte" S-Bahn, mit 45 Stationen auf einer Streckenlaenge von 230 Kilometern. Ab dem 15.12.2019 verkehren die sechs Linien des "Leman Express" zwischen Coppet (Vaud), Genf und verschiedenen End-Stationen im benachbarten Frankreich. The trip to Iran is coordinated with the USA; prior to his departure, Premier Abe phoned again with the US President. Abe acts as a "mediator" between the USA and Iran in Tehran. Officially, the visit marks 90 years of diplomatic relations between Iran and Japan. Abe should encourage Iran to work towards a reduction of tension in the Middle East. Japan however ended imports of Iranian oil in May, under pressure from the USA. In the first quarter, Japan had still imported a total of 15.3 Mio. barrels of crude oil from Iran. Abe Shinzo will deliver hardly any concrete offers, but rather convey again US-Trump's conversation offer. It is possible that he will invite President Rohani to the G20-meeting in Osaka. Domestic politically, Abe wants to strengthen Japan's international stature. At the same time, Abe Shinzo marches on the trail of his father Abe Shintaro, who visited as Foreign Minister 1983 Tehran. He however failed then, with the attempt to mediate with economic offers in the Gulf War between Iran and Iraq. Most analysts see the real purpose of the trip in Abe's domestic agenda; the elections for the Upper House are coming up in July. "The trip wants to show the Japanese voters that Abe Shinzo is a World Statesman". "International diplomacy is part of the art and theatre of politics for Mr. Abe", said Professor Jeff Kingston, Director of Asian Studies at Tokyo's Temple University.
